How to calculate your real profit per order on Meesho
By Om Infinity Solutions · · 6 min read
Most Meesho sellers look at the sale price. The number that matters is what is left after everything is taken off and after you pay for the product. Here is a method you can follow by hand, and what Omjaniva does for you.
Start from what Meesho actually paid
In the Meesho payment report, each order has a line called Final Settlement Amount. It is the sale amount minus return amounts, commission and platform fees, shipping, tax collected at source (TCS), tax deducted at source (TDS) and any claims, compensation or recoveries. This is the money that reached you for that order, so it is the right starting point, not the listed price.
Subtract what the product cost you
Your landed cost for one unit is the price you paid for it, plus the GST you paid on it if you cannot claim it back, plus packing material. Multiply by the quantity ordered.
Worked example: you sell a lamp. Meesho settles ₹167.90 for the order. The lamp cost you ₹100, GST on it at 5% is ₹5 and packing is ₹10, so the landed cost is ₹115. Profit on that order is 167.90 − 115 = ₹52.90.
Treat returns differently
When an order comes back to you as an RTO or a customer return, the goods are in your hands again, so you do not count the product cost. What you lose are the fees Meesho still charged, such as shipping and return shipping. In the example, if ₹40 of shipping was deducted and nothing was paid, the result for that order is −₹40.
Count ads on their own line
Meesho takes ad spend separately from your order payments. Do not hide it inside a single order. Look at it per period: the money left after ads is your settled amount minus ad spend.
Add back money you recover
If you raise a claim and Meesho pays it, that money belongs to the order it was for. Add it to that order's profit.
Do it for every order, not a sample
Doing this by hand for a few orders is easy. Doing it for thousands every month is where mistakes and missed money come in. Omjaniva reads your Meesho orders and payment files, applies the cost you set for each SKU, and shows profit or loss on every order, with orders still waiting for a payment or a cost clearly marked instead of guessed.
